Rotary International -

is a wonderful way to serve the community.  John, a 28 year member, enjoys the international events that Rotary sponsors such as the foreign student exchange program, the Ambassadorial Scholarship program, and the Group Study Exchange program.  RYLA, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program is also a favorite and locally, he was involved in creating and conducting a middle school leadership development program called Camp T.A.C.O. (Teens Accepting Challenge Opportunities).

Camping and Exploring -

provide great outdoor opportunities in the upper Sonoran desert.  It takes just 70 minutes to go from home (at 2,900 feet elevation) to enter the spruce fir forest at almost 11,000 feet elevation near the summit of the Pinaleño Mountains.  It is like traveling from the Sonoran desert in Mexico to the summit of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in an hour -- a journey through five ecological zones.  We take the GMC Truck and the home-built Packer Trailer to some of our favorite places:

Mount Graham

 Araivipa Canyon

 Bonita Creek

 Cave Creek
